Six Reasons Clients Choose to Work With Us
Focused Solely on Pension Matters
We do not divide attention between property, employment or commercial work. Every client at Tiang Amanah is here for the same reason you are.
Explanation Before Every Signature
Nothing is signed or sent without the client reading it and, where helpful, having a family member read it too.
Regular Written Updates
Progress notes are sent at each stage — not just when something good happens. Delays are acknowledged and explained.
Accessible to Families
Family members are welcome in every meeting. Video appointments are available for clients who find travel difficult.
Honest About Limitations
We say plainly when a matter is unlikely to proceed well. That assessment is part of the service, not something to be discovered later.
Fixed Fees from the Outset
Each service has a stated fee in Malaysian Ringgit. No surprises at the end of a matter.
Looking Closer at Each Advantage
Expertise in Malaysian Pension Law
Pension law in Malaysia covers EPF savings accounts, defined-benefit public sector schemes, and the pension provisions of various statutory bodies. The rules differ significantly between these schemes, and errors in how they are applied — whether through miscalculation, missing contribution records, or incorrectly applied deductions — are more common than most people realise.
Our practice works exclusively in this area. We are familiar with the administrative bodies involved, the documents that carry the most weight in a dispute, and the timelines within which decisions can be challenged. That depth of knowledge takes years to develop and cannot be replicated by a generalist practice that handles one or two pension cases per year.
Most people come to us having received a letter they found difficult to understand, or after noticing that their pension payment was lower than they had expected. In either case, the process of working out what has happened and what can be done about it starts with clear communication rather than more formal language.
We read the correspondence with the client, translate the relevant passages into plain terms, and explain what each document means for their situation. Only after that explanation do we discuss the options — and we give enough time for questions. This approach takes longer than reading a file alone would, but it produces better decisions.
Clarity Over Complexity
Accessible and Transparent Fees
Our three services are priced at RM 150, RM 420, and RM 650. Each fee covers a defined scope of work. We explain what is included and what would fall outside that scope before any agreement is made.
For many of our clients, these fees represent a meaningful expenditure. We take that seriously. The consultation session in particular is designed so that a client can leave with a clear understanding of their situation — at a cost that reflects the value of that clarity rather than the full cost of a contested matter.
How Our Approach Differs
Not every legal service that handles pension matters does so in the same way. The differences matter, particularly for older clients.
Typical General Practice
Pension matters handled alongside property, employment and commercial work
Updates provided when the client asks, rather than at each stage
Fees based on time spent, with final cost uncertain at the start
Correspondence written in standard legal language
Family members may not be accommodated in meetings as standard
Tiang Amanah Approach
Every client matter is a pension matter — nothing else is handled here
Written updates sent at each meaningful stage of the matter
Fees stated clearly in RM before the matter begins
All correspondence explained in plain language before anything is signed
Family members welcome at every meeting as standard
Features You Will Not Find Everywhere
The Entitlement Checklist
Before your first appointment, we provide a list of questions written in everyday language — each one designed to help you identify whether your records are likely to be complete and what may be worth checking.
Document Preparation Panel
We provide a clear list of which papers to bring to a consultation, in the order they are usually requested, so that you are not asked repeatedly for documents you already brought along.
Plain-Language Timeline
Each service comes with a written timeline showing how long each stage typically takes, expressed as a range rather than a fixed date. Ranges are more honest than single figures for matters that depend on third-party response times.
Video Appointments Available
Clients who live further from Kuala Lumpur, or who have limited mobility, can attend meetings by video without losing any part of the service. Family members joining by video from a different location are also welcome.
Saturday Morning Availability
For clients or family members who are still working, Saturday morning appointments are available on request. We do not charge a premium for this.
Matter Summary on Completion
When a matter concludes, we provide a written summary of what was established, what was attempted, and what the outcome was — so that the client has a record they can refer to or share with family members in future.
